2011 Goals

I've never been very good at setting new year's goals but this year I feel inspired to do so. I often find myself dreaming of how my life could be happier and more beautiful in the future and get so caught in my future dreams that I forget to take action and acknowledge the beauty of today. Someday I'll have my own house and get out of this tiny apartment, someday when we're not poor grad students I'll decorate my home beautifully, someday.... well, you get the picture. But this year someday is today. This year I will Live in the Beauty of Today. My theme was inspired by this quote:

"Sometimes we let our thoughts of tomorrow take up too much of today. Daydreaming of the past and longing for the future may provide comfort but will not take the place of living in the present. This is the day of our opportunity and we must grasp it." (Thomas S. Monson, In Search of Treasure")

So here are a few goals to start me off toward Living in the Beauty of Today.

1. Make a point to record one beautiful thing every day in my journal.

2. Begin today to make my home into what I want it to be. A little bit at a time I can infuse beauty and inspiration into my home even if we are poor grad students living in a tiny apartment.

3. And last but not least it is time to step up and take better care of myself. It is time to become a healthier Mom and role model to my kid. So to that end I will continue to train for and run a half marathon this year.
