Back in 1999

The following paragraphs came from a file I stumbled across while cleaning off an old hard drive. Maybe I should write more. I wrote this when I was 15 (Jan of 99).
Sleep hung over me like a warm blanket. I woke to the sound of wheels hitting dirt as my brother stirred beside me. The car lurched to a stop, and my mom called out "time to get up boys." She moved to wake us and excitement filled me as I shook my brother awake. The door flew open my father stood there with the last glimmers of daylight silhouetting his figure. My father reached forward to help me unfasten my buckle while my mother awoke my brother and began to unbuckle his seatbelt. With a feeling of joy only obtainable in youth, my brother and I set forth at a reckless pace eager to explore the unknown. My Mother raised a shout “come back here and get your coats!” Reluctantly and with a great deal of dragging of feet my brother and I walked back to the car, dejectedly. My brother received a blue coat and I was the recipient of a red coat.
The Sun had set and all was peaceful at the campground. Sounds of young children laughing and the incessant drone of parents talking were the only sounds that broke the silence. I was engaged in one of the most delightful of all activities . . . tag. Darkness had fallen and at the present moment I was “it” and my present quarry was of all people my dear and beloved brother. My brother and I raced through the fallen leaves, fate chose this moment to strike. The Jaws of fate clamped tightly shut as my dear beloved brother ducked low Whack! ; The world went mad. The ground beneath me fell away as Bright lights and flecks of flickering black appeared before my eyes then nothing.
