I wrote this for a class, can you tell who's style I'm emulating and what story I'm writing about? Post answers to comments, winners will get like a gazillion happy points from happy happy land.
This land we did come to of richness
With the name Bountiful calling
The green dark growth provide
Abundance of both succulence and sweet
A vast ribbon of salted waters
The peaks of gold reach for the sky
Rest beneath the shadows and cool
Depths of sorrow to brightness of joy swirl emotion
Bountiful we flee to from the ashes of our past
Thunder of Crack and Lightning of flash
God’s voice calls
Yielding to its call I come to the mount
Of wood and twisted metal called me to build
Vessel to stand betwixt us and dreary death
Vessel to carry this mensch to distant lands
I stretch forth the withers of my mind to cry
Questions of local, humble ignorance pleads
Fire of light burns the path of answers
Coverings of deor air do make rush
Stane brings helios to the earth to serve
Blows form the shapes I wield
Post-Forbidden Flame serves me once more
Commandments I obey must
Of flame nor light for safety to not make
The meate of the field and forest made sweet
By God’s command live we life
Faith of works and vision beheld confirm he who leads
The land of promise foretold and prophesied will in his hands be
And by his hands we are given all
The knowledge of deliverance engraved on our souls
Constant with strivings commandments obeyed were
My brethren quick to observe strongly my action
Cried out of my foolishness and cried fool man
Vessel of deliverance thou canst build
This ribbon of waves ye cannot cut
The strength of our arms will not be lent
Thou shall fail in this here endeavor
Hard hearts of black diamond turn the black light
To my soul and depthed sorrow fills my wounded heart
Seven times seven my heart rends with shards of pain
The cloudy vision of my beloved brethren looms their fate apparent
As the whips fire lances my soul the gaping grin of my brethren stretches
Their dirt entrenched fingers claw my wounds with cries of selfishness
They clamor claims of pain for their women and kin and stopping wish
The lack of our journey’s necessity lies like a viper in their thoughts
Better to suffer sinful death then live a lifeless life
Claiments to an ancient honor full of hollow tradition
The crowned waters that parted and the freedom of slaves I remind
Obedience to the voice brings the great works
Would the Lord have granted gifts if his voice was not listened?
The rain of meate from the heavens did grant great strength to Israel
Waters from the depth of stane did quench the thirst of a nation
Damming destruction falls furiously on the heads of the opposed and unhearing
To hear and obey brings the blessed blessing of the Lord
Of creation did he fuel and of his power and might we are born
Nations of willful wickedness are brought low while
Nations of reasoned righteousness are made high
Of the heavens he rules with his throne among
This earth is his footstool
Focused on him are those who love and covenant with them he will
Eternal remembrance of his covenant people binded in his flesh
The unruly rod is straightened and the flesh is made strong
Simplicity covers his brilliance and many perish from blindness
Wings of light have touched your cheeks yet ye will not remember
Of the Lord’s might wind have you heard and the stillness passes over
Your soul with no effect
The rippling earth is made smooth by obedience to his command
The planed plain bubbles up with the force of his word
My cry to thee is why canst ye not also sway to the wind?
Split canvas rents flare from the billows of my heart for you
The depths of damnation await your cast off hollowed souls
My well springs of his Spirit and weakens my foundation
Unconstrained rage coiled round my brothers and into the depths they
Sought to commend my spirit. Close they approached when the wind
Moved across my mind and through my mouth as I declared
Almighty God commands you that the flesh of thy hands not break my presence
The shivering power of might will burst from my flesh and consume thine
Silence the demons of thy heart and cease thy murderous murmers
This vibrant vessel shall be built as God commands it
With the might of God as my Hammer and his word as my forge
Of anything he requires I shall speedily commit
His words are my words as his will subsumes mine
The circling heavens and earth beneath your feet are of his power
How can a vessel to carry be beyond his grasp?

My favorite line is;"silence the demons of thy heart and cease thy murderous murmers..." as it applies to anyone's self doubt in moments of despair and discouragement. What an amazing man you are becoming. I hope you keep writing-you are truly gifted!
