Da na na na na... Batman!

So the title of this post is my sad attempt to digitally sing the Batman theme song :)
Anyway, we are excited to announce the birth of our second superhero! Batman arrived on Friday, October 21st and weighed in at 7lbs 13oz and 21 inches long.

So for those of you who are interested, here's the story (if you don't care for the whole story, just the results skip to the next paragraph). I woke up with contractions at about 2:30am and headed to the hospital about an hour later when contractions were five minutes apart. Upon arriving at the hospital the nurse checked for dilation and said, "Oh boy, we better get you up to the delivery room, you're at a 10!" I was shocked. Labor with Superman took 18 hours to have dilated to a 10 so quickly was very surprising. But Baby Batman was still floatin'  way high. So they gave me the (much desired) epidural and  let us "labor down" for a while. A few hours later it was decided that the baby was OP (occiput posterior: head down, but facing the ceiling instead of the floor) and that was why he wasn't descending. So began many efforts to get the baby to turn over. After about an hour and a serious talkin' to from the doctor, Batman finally decided to cooperate and was born within minutes. The entire ordeal only lasted about 8 hours.

Mom and baby are both healthy and happy and are very grateful for a relatively quick and complication free delivery. We were able to bring Superman (and my mom) over later that afternoon and let the two brothers meet.

Superman adores his little brother and looks after him with the love and affection of one beyond his years. The two of them already have a special bond (a friendship or rather brotherhood which I believe began before this life).

(the hummer is one of Superman's favorites which he insisted on sharing! sorry the pic is turned sideways)

P.S. I know some of you are very curious about Batman's real name. For those of you who know my family he is named first after my Grandpa Olsen and second after his own father. If you don't know my family and are dying of curiosity click here. If you can't view the private blog, leave a comment and I'll send you an invite.

So, being new to making comments, I used real names and had to delete them. Just thought I'd explain the deleted comments. Love the Batman/Superman pictures. They are precious. Congratulations!!
