Good Morning Diaper Bomb

Have you ever had a sick, really sick, toddler? It's disgusting. Here is how yesterday started. (Warning: This post is not for the faint of stomach.)

In the middle of a really strange dream (which I no longer remember), I hear Superman wake up and begin to cry. Hubby is already up so I let him rescue the little guy while I gradually wake. Eventually I groggily stumble from the room and am greeted by my dear husband and son, with little smiles and a "he really stinks" comment.

"Already? Really... (sniff sniff). Oh, yes! That sucks."

I take the half-asleep-half-awake child in my arms and head back to the changing station. Thinking to myself, "oh man, he really stinks! What a way to start the day... this really sucks.... usually I get at least a couple hours to enjoy my child be for he reminds me how disgusting babies can be." Little did I know...

I open up the pajamas, get blasted with the raunchy smell overflowing diarrhea, and begin to call for back up before I even get a look at the engorged sogginess that was once known as the diaper. Amazingly the diaper did it's job well. Although the diaper was completely saturated from one elastic waist to the other and barely keeping back all the crap from seeping down the legs, the pajamas escaped unscathed.

So after using probably half a container wipes (yes, seriously) and tying up the engorged semblance of a  diaper in a grocery bag and then another grocery bag for good measure. I was feeling pretty good about life again... for about hour hour... then it happened again... and again.... and again... several times throughout the day.  Add to the diarrhea the inability to keep any food in the stomach and you come up with a pretty miserable kid. But toddlers, they aren't smart enough to stay near the toilet or at least a barf bucket, so you end up with a  pretty disgusted and miserable Mom too.

So that was my day... hope yours was better!

p.s. Superman seems to have pretty much recovered today, he's just a little tired and extra long naps are always a-okay.

Nothing like a thrashing baby with a bomb attached, it took both of us to handle the little guy and we still ended up with mess everywhere. :(

I have to agree with you, diarrhea mixed with vomit is the worst! Hope superman gets feeling better soon!

Oh....poor little guy. Be nice to him. I'm sure it was much worse for him than for you. I hope he's feeling better.
