Ross has been officially offered an internship with Carole Chaski, PhD at the Institute for Linguistic Evidence, in Georgetown, Deleware.
Ross met Dr. Chaski at the last conference he attended and they talked quite a bit about Ross's research. Dr. Chaski felt that Ross's research would enhance the forensic linguistics research her team has been doing at the Institute. So Ross asked if she had any internships. Dr. Chaski said they weren't planning on any interns this year but she would look into it a little more and they exchanged information. Ross didn't really think it would go anywhere but after a few emails, Dr. Chaski has now officially offered Ross a summer internship with the possibility of subcontracting employment.
Well, I probably don't need to point out that this is a pretty awesome compliment to Ross. Dr. Chaski's entire team is made up of PhD's and they want Ross (who is an undergrad) to come work with them. Seriously - I am married to one incredible man!
It will be a short internship only two-three weeks in Deleware, but he will possible keep working for them from home for the rest of the summer. We don't know the exact dates yet, but it will probably be in June.
We are hoping that I can go with him (it is a good possibility) and we plan on driving out there and visiting most of the schools we are interested in for Grad programs. I am just super excited to travel and see new places. Ross is freaking out about the whole thing, there is going to be alot expected of him, but I know he can do it.
